Reactions to Penn State's hiring of Bill O'Brien as its next head football coach have varied wildly.

StateCollege.com Managing Editor William Derrick caught up with a couple students who shared their thoughts for the video below.

"I think we really just need somebody to rally around right now," one said.

Joe Paterno Welcomes Bill O'Brien

Joe Paterno gave his permanent successor and fellow Brown graduate Bill O'Brien a warm greeting into the Penn State football family.

Paterno, who was fired Nov. 9 in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky child sex-abuse scandal, released a statement through his family to the Associated Press welcoming O'Brien to Penn State.
