Three weeks into the voting process, numbers are still down for the Penn State Board of Trustees election.

So far, 22,952 alumni have submitted votes, which is up from 19,882 one week ago, according to the administrative office for the board.

Last year, in total, 32,986 alumni voted, which was down from a record-setting 37,579 ballots cast in 2012.

Voting for three alumni seats opened April 10 and concludes May 8. Winners will be announced May 9.

The three open seats are currently held by board members Jesse Arnelle, Marianne Alexander and Joel Myers. Myers is the only candidate seeking another term.

The university automatically sends ballots to graduates who have a valid email address on file with the university's alumni records office.

Graduates who have requested a ballot over the last two elections will automatically receive a ballot.
