The Washington Post has interviewed Joe Paterno.

Post columnist Sally Jenkins spoke with the former Penn State football coach, 85, on Thursday, according to the newspaper's website.

The interview will be posted at 4 p.m. Saturday on washingtonpost.com and will appear in Sunday's print editions, as well, the paper reported.

Jenkins' conversation with Paterno marks his first prolonged public remarks since his firing Nov. 9.

The Penn State board leadership released a statement Thursday about Paterno's removal; later in the day, his son Scott released a separate statement.
