Winter Storm Warning Declared for State College Area

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the State College area.

Snow accumulations are expected to be between 5 and 8 inches.

The agency predicts light snow to start around dawn Saturday, which will change to heavy snow Saturday afternoon and Saturday night.

Temperatures are expected to be in the 20s Saturday.

Winds will be between 5 and 10 mph with wind gusts up to 20 mph.

Visibility will be one to two miles Saturday morning then decreasing to less than one mile Saturday afternoon and evening.

The warning is in effect between 5 a.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Sunday.

A Winter Storm Warning is issued when a winter storm is producing or is forecast to produce heavy snow or significant ice accumulations.
