Woman Charged in Connection with Phony Robbery Waives Preliminary Hearing
The store clerk charged in connection with a phony robbery at the East College Avenue Uni-Mart in August waived her preliminary hearing this morning, according to Centre County Court Administration.
Diane Chase, 51, of Julian, originally told police she was approached by a man in the Uni-Mart parking lot who took a bag of money from her and gave her superficial cuts, which she was treated for. State College Police obtained video surveillance of the parking lot showing Chase leaving the Uni-Mart and taking the money from the bank bag.
The missing money amounted to $9,802.94.
Chase is also charged with theft by deception, receiving stolen property and giving false reports to police.
