by on January 12, 2017 1:20 PM

WPSU Penn State will launch a new digital channel dedicated solely to PBS Kids programming.

WPSU Kids will begin broadcasting 24 hours a day, seven days a week on Monday and will be available locally on Xfinity/Comcast cable channel 243 in the State College area. Programming also will be available over the air; on streaming services Amazon Fire, Android TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku and Xbox One; at wpsu.org and pbskids.org; and on the PBS KIDS app.

“The new WPSU KIDS programming brings important educational content to children that’s accessible at any time, especially during prime time, and allows families to collaboratively watch and learn together,” director of broadcasting Greg Petersen said in a release. “The quality of the programming that kids interact with plays a critical role in their early development, and WPSU Penn State is dedicated to providing the resources necessary to help unlock children’s potential.”

PBS member stations around the country are launching similar multicast services for PBS Kids programming.

The channel will feature popular PBS Kids programming such as “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood,” “Odd Squad,” “Wild Kratts,” “Dinosaur Train,” “Nature Cat” and “Ready Jet Go!” PBS Kids programming will continue to air at regularly scheduled times on WPSU-TV.

This will be WPSU Penn State's fourth digital channel, joining WPSU, WPSU Create and WPSU World.

WPSU Kids also will be available on Brockway Cable channel 98. Depending on local listings, it will be available on Xfinity/Comcast channel 181, 198, 206, 236, 239, 243 or 250.
