Getaway in PA: Delicious Food and Affordable Fun at DelGrosso's Amusement Park

DelGrosso’s Amusement Park may not be the biggest park in Pennsylvania, but it certainly has a lot of heart.

“We say that we’re affordable family fun close to home,” says Amy Mearkle, director of marketing for the park. “It’s a clean, pretty atmosphere and a gorgeous setting. It’s fun and safe, and you can enjoy some great family memories here.”

The park, which has more than 30 rides and attractions, is located 30 miles southwest of State College off of Interstate 99 South. It’s been family owned and operated since 1946 when Ferdinand and Mafalda DelGrosso purchased the land, and the park continues to offer Ferdinand’s original vision of “old family fun at family prices.”

“One of our themes for the summer is, ‘The life moments you want to capture happen here,’ Mearkle says.

While the 130-foot drop from the X-Scream Tower remains one of DelGrosso’s most popular attractions, Mearkle says the amusement park boasts some of the best park food in the state.

“We’re known for having some of the best amusement park food, and that’s because it’s homemade,” she says. “There’s seven Italian brothers and sisters who own the park, and they are very particular about good meals. So, you’re going to find delicious food here.”

Park food is made fresh each morning and features dishes with DelGrosso products, including homemade pizza, pasta and Mafalda’s potato salad. Mearkle says there are special food nights such as “Spaghetti Wednesdays” and a rotating pasta meal available every week.

It’s a short drive from State College, which only adds to the affordability of a day at DelGrosso’s.

“We’re a place where you can have fun, get a great meal and you’re not breaking the bank to do it,” Mearkle says.
