Brandon Bell became the first linebacker to verbally commit to Penn State, according to multiple PSU football recruiting websites, including Lions247.

Bell, 6-foot-1, 224 pounds, is the 11th member of the Class of 2013.

The Mays Landing (N.J.) Oakcrest product is rated a three-star prospect by Rivals.com and holds scholarship offers from Boston College, Maryland, West Virginia, Rutgers, Northwestern and Purdue, among others.

Bell's commitment is not binding until he signs a letter of intent in February.
