The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Centre County through 8 p.m. Friday. Temperatures could reach up to 104 degrees.

There is an elevated risk of heat-related illness for those without air conditioning or anyone who is outdoors for an extended period of time, according to AccuWeather.

To avoid heat-related illnesses, drink plenty of water and limit prolonged sun exposure. If you must be outdoors, try to wear light-colored and light weight, loose-fitting clothing.

Check up routinely on elderly relatives and neighbors and remember to provide pets with adequate shelter from the sun.
