While below-freezing temperatures have returned for the week, fortunately major snow is not in the forecast for the next several days.
AccuWeather Meteorologist Tom Kines says temperatures will not hit above freezing for the next several days with Tuesday's high only in the upper 20s and temperatures for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday near 20 degrees.
"We are back in the deep freeze," says Kines, "which at this time of year is pretty impressive."
The cold is expected to ease up some over the weekend, however temperatures may not reach normal.
"But it should not be as brutal or as frigid as the midweek period will be," Kines says
Along with the return of this colder weather there could be some snow showers that will move through the area now and then. However, accumulation is not expected to be more than a coating to a half-inch.
"Probably just enough to remind us it is still cold," Kines says.
There is a possibility of a storm late in the weekend or in the early part of next week.
"I think for the most part we can put our now shovels away for at least a the next few days," says Kines.
