A State College man opened a package shipped to him from the army base in Savannah, Georgia on Friday, only to find his 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun missing from its contents.

State College police say they suspect the handgun was stolen out of the shipping container at some point before reaching State College. The package arrive wrapped and sealed, which police say may indicate the package was opened and resealed while still in Savannah.

Police are working with military police from Savannah to investigate the missing firearm.
