The head of sales for Outreach, a startup sales communication platform, understands State College.
Mark Kosoglow has lived here for more than 20 years, and he recognized the town as a breeding ground for an entrepreneurial endeavor.
That's why Outreach is planting its seed in State College, expanding its office in town with plans to hire 100 people here by the end of next year and base its rapidly grows sales department out of Happy Valley.
"I'm from the area and I didn't want to move. I love central Pennsylvania and this is where I want to raise my kids," Kosoglow said. "We have Penn State here and people here have a work ethic that I don't think many other places in the country have."
Outreach is looking to innovate the world of sales with its sales communications platform, which is essentially software that aims to help customers increase efficiency, work faster, and of course make more money. In the short time since its creation in Feb. 2014, Outreach has a number of case studies that prove its product works and the company has acquired over 800 customers.
The startup has big plans for worldwide expansion, and those plans start right here in State College. The initial goal is to hire 20 to 30 people immediately, and Kosoglow promises that the workplace environment is unlike anywhere else in the sales world.
"The startup environment we have is really different from a corporate setting," he said. "Right now, I have nine people in the office and we set up working in a small team environment where teams all work together to bring in revenue, not on an individual basis but as a team."
"We have big screens showing results and keeping everyone excited," he added. "It’s just a fun, loose atmosphere. If you’re smart and you work hard, I’d be willing to bet on the fact that there’s not many jobs you’ll have as much fun at as ours."
Because its a startup, Outreach has a unique opportunity for employees to come on board at the bottom level and get a job that includes company equity, flexible work hours, and no cap on vacation time. And above all that, Kosoglow believes that joining Outreach is a great career opportunity.
"We have a really unique opportunity here for people to come on board with a company that’s rapidly expanding in a super high growth sector," he said. "It’s a job that can really help you build skills and benefit your career."
Outreach is looking for entry-level, management, and senior sales positions at its State College office in a town that's quickly becoming a hotbed for entrepreneurship.
“With an up-and-coming startup culture and a university atmosphere that produces top-tier candidates, we’re thrilled to base our rapidly growing sales department in State College,” CEO Manuel Medina said. "We’ve achieved incredible success in this community and we’re excited to double-down on our commitment to offering unique new job opportunities. I encourage all those seeking to explore tech startup life to get in touch."
