For the sixth year, Penn State is hosting a week of events across the University Park campus to promote physical activity and its health benefits.
Exercise Is Medicine Week starts today (Oct. 9) at noon with the Dean's Walk, a one-mile walk across campus starting at the Biobehavioral Health Building and ending at the steps of Old Main. Activities will continue around campus through Friday.
The week is part of the national Exercise Is Medicine on Campus initiative that takes place annually.
Free exercise stations, health resources and fitness challenges will be offered throughout the week at various campus locations. On Thursday, free yoga will be offered at 4 p.m. on the HUB Lawn.
The week will conclude with the grand re-opening of the Center for Fitness and Wellness in its new location at the Intramural Building. The event begins at 10 a.m. in Room 20 with nutritional counseling, mental health services, meditation sessions, and other health and wellness activities. Fitness assessments also will be offered by the CFW.
