Penn State Football: Nittany Lions Land Two Commits Saturday Evening
Penn State football picked up two verbal commitments during Blue White weekend when four-star defensive tackle Cole Brevard and three-star offensive lineman RJ Adam made their decision on Saturday evening.
Brevard’s commitment is quite a victory for the Nittany Lions. The defensive tackle chose James Franklin’s program over Clemson, Michigan, and Wisconsin, among others. He’s the best player available from the state of Indiana in this recruiting cycle and the 20th-best defensive tackle in the country, per 247Sports.
The eighth member of Penn State’s recruiting class of 2020 is from Carmel, Indiana, and he plays his high school ball at Carmel High School. Tim Banks and Sean Spencer were both involved in bringing Brevard to Happy Valley.
Brevard is the first defensive lineman to join the Nittany Lions in this recruiting cycle. He joins a class that includes four-star linebackers Curtis Jacobs and Derek Wingo and four-star defensive back Joshuah Moten. He’s the second player to commit to Penn State on the day of Blue-White; three-star offensive lineman RJ Adams made his pledge earlier on Saturday.
Penn State’s recruiting class also features three offensive linemen — Adams and fellow three-star prospects Grant Toutant and Golden Achumba. Dual-threat quarterback Micah Bowens is the only signal caller in the recruiting class, and he was in Happy Valley for the Blue-White game.
Adams picked the Nittany Lions over Louisville and Maryland, among others. He’s the third offensive lineman in the Nittany Lions’ 2020 recruiting class along with Grant Toutant and Golden Achumba.
The offensive guard plays for Woodbridge High School in Woodbridge, VA. He’s the 11th-best prospect available in the state of Virginia during this recruiting cycle, and he’s the 21st-best player available at his position this cycle.
On top of Toutant and Achumba, Adams joins a recruiting class highlighted by four-star linebackers Curtis Jacobs and Derek Wingo. It’s still early in the 2020 recruiting cycle, but Adams’ commitment elevated Penn State’s recruiting class to the tenth-best in the country so far. It’s also the third-best in the Big Ten behind Ohio State and Iowa.
