Everyone who has a brain is at risk to develop Alzheimer’s, a disease that is often misunderstood. Many people do not know that Alzheimer’s is fatal, killing more people than breast and prostate cancer combined or that Alzheimer’s is not normal aging but a progressive brain disease that affects more than just memory.
During the month of June, communities throughout Pennsylvania are fighting back by sharing the facts about Alzheimer’s, sharing their stories, going purple and honoring those facing the disease by participating in The Longest Day on June 21. We are incredibly thankful for those who have already taken action but know communities must become involved to truly make a difference.
