For their final home game of the season on Sunday, the State College Spikes will donate a portion of the game’s proceeds to THON.
The Spikes will host the Williamsport Crosscutters for a 6:05 p.m. first pitch at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Gates open at 5 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased for $8 at a table in the HUB Robeson Center’s main lounge area until Saturday. Tickets are also available at the box office on game day, but you’ll need to mention THON to ensure your purchase credits the Penn State student-run philanthropy, which benefits pediatric cancer patients and research at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital.
The THON game will also feature “Bark In The Park” Night, so feel free to bring your furry friends. (See rules and regulations here)
It's also Kids Day, with a pregame catch on the field, postgame kids run the bases and, for the first 250 kids 12 and under, a voucher good for a free hot dog, chips and small soda.
After the game, a fireworks show will wrap up the 2019 regular season
With the season nearing the finish line, the Spikes are in a tight race in the standings. As of Thursday afternoon, with five games remaining, State College is in third place in the New York-Penn League’s Pinckney Division, 2.5 games out of first. Batavia leads with West Virginia a half game behind and Mahoning Valley Scrappers just behind the Spikes and three games out of first.
State College is at Mahoning Valley Thursday and Friday and at Williamsport on Saturday before returning to Medlar Field on Sunday. The Spikes close out the regular season on Monday in Williamsport.
