UNIVERSITY PARK – Global Entrepreneurship Week Penn State runs from Sunday, Nov. 10 to Thursday, Nov. 14 with daily presentations, panels, workshops and networking opportunities geared specifically to entrepreneurs, local startups, innovators and anyone interested in thinking outside the box, according to a press release
Celebrating its 11th year in the community, GEW aims to draw in more residents from the Centre Region, in addition to Penn State.
The Penn State SBDC manages planning, organization and execution of GEW Penn State in partnership with Invent Penn State.

Monday, Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. — Fireside Chat: The Skills that Separate the Best Entrepreneurial Teams from the Rest — Krause Learning Space, 221 Chambers Building on campus
Join Frank Koe, Penn State professor of engineering, as he talks with Betsy Campbell, the founder of Harvard Alumni Entrepreneurs and several technology ventures, about her latest book, “The Innovator’s Discussion: The Conversational Skills of Entrepreneurial Teams.” Participants will learn about the core competencies that differentiate successful and unsuccessful teams. They also will learn techniques to cultivate these essential skills within their own innovative entrepreneurial teams.
Monday, Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. — Pop Up Startups: How to Shakeup the Typical Storefront — Discovery Space, 1224 N. Atherton St.
Pop-up shops are taking over the retail world and rethinking traditional brick-and-mortar and big-box stores, while food trucks are moving away from their bland beginnings and are gaining popularity as a trendy pop-up restaurant option. During this panel discussion, learn from local successful business owners who have expertise in these types of businesses. They will discuss their successes and lessons learned and what you need to know to get started with your food truck or pop-up shop. You can also learn the regulations and permitting needed to be in compliance for this rapidly expanding type of business.

This talk will further define intrapreneurship and explore how to identify entrepreneurial companies that are receptive to having you employ your entrepreneurial mindset while practicing entrepreneurial leadership skills. Time spent in an intrapreneurial firm provides opportunities to garner valuable experience while determining if entrepreneurship is something worthy of full-time consideration.
