Centre County Adds 102 COVID-19 Cases Over 2 Days

Centre County reported 102 new COVID-19 cases over the past two days to bring its total to 1,237 since the first was reported in March.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health is no longer providing COVID-19 data updates on Sundays, so Monday's report included numbers for both days.

Among the new cases, 100 are confirmed and two are probable.

The county also had 317 new negative test results. A total of 20,376 patients in Centre County have tested negative for the virus.

According to DOH data, Centre County has two COVID-19 hospitalization, one more than on Saturday.

In the past two weeks, the county has added 751 new cases.

Statewide, the health department reported 1,258 new positives for the past two days — 620 for Sunday and 638 for Monday — increasing Pennsylvania's total to 145,063. Due to a reporting delay, Philadelphia's new cases for Monday are not included in the total.

There were 20,609 new negative test results statewide. A total of 1,684,609 patients in Pennsylvania have tested negative for the virus.

An estimated 82% of COVID-19 patients in the state — about 118,952 — have recovered, according to a DOH calculation.

Across Pennsylvania, 472 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, with 59 requiring use of a ventilator.

The health department reported seven new COVID-19 deaths, bringing the state's total at 7,869. DOH has reported 11 total COVID-19 deaths for Centre County, the most recent on Aug. 14. The coroner's office has confirmed only seven, ranging in age from 74 to 96.

Most COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths have been among patients 65 and older, according to DOH.

Among Pennsylvania's total cases, 140,842 are confirmed and 4,221 are probable. In Centre County, 1,183 are confirmed and 54 are probable.

Among Centre County's bordering counties, Blair now has 532 [+15] total cases, Union has 435 [+10], Huntingdon has 392 [-1], Clearfield has 286 [+15], Mifflin has 195 [+6] and Clinton has 170 [+1].
