A 20-year-old Penn State student died on Sunday in an off-campus apartment, according to the university and the Centre County Coroner's Office.

The cause of Nicholas Papadopoulos's death is not yet known. Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers said an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday but toxicology results will take about six weeks. Sayers said that after a preliminary investigation, the death does not appear to be related to COVID-19.

A State College police spokesperson said there is currently no suspicion of a crime related to the death.

Papadopoulos was a student in the College of Engineering.

Penn State spokeswoman Lisa Powers said the university was notified of his death by State College police.

"We offer our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Nicholas, who was studying industrial engineering at Penn State," Powers said. "While circumstances and cause of death are being investigated, and we are providing support to the family, roommates and others directly affected."
