The first installment of Discovery Space’s Nights to Discover Speaker Series will feature two of the world's foremost infectious disease researchers.

Dr. David Ho and Dr. Peter Hudson will speak during the free online event at 7 p.m. Thursday. Registration is required.

Ho's work on HIV replication earned him the 2001 Presidential Medal of Honor. Hudson, who was named Humanitarian of the Year in 2018 by Kish Bank, was elected to the Royal Society for his work on animal diseases and how they spread among humans.

These scientists will draw on their deep experience as they discuss the challenges involved in wrestling down COVID-19. This will be an interactive event and the audience is encouraged to bring both their curiosity and their questions to the conversation.

“Traditionally, Night to Discover has been an in-person celebration and fundraiser," said Michele Crowl, executive director of Discovery Space. "This year we went virtual and are ecstatic to have such distinguished scientists share their insights with the community. Dr. Ho and Dr. Hudson will certainly set a high bar for the rest of our speaker series.”
