Penn State Football: Nittany Lions Land Legacy Back Richy Anderson

by on October 29, 2012 2:51 PM

Despite the Nittany Lion's loss to Ohio State, Penn State came out of this past weekend stronger, receiving the verbal commitment from Frederick, Md., native running back Richy Anderson, according to multiple recruiting websites.

Anderson, who will join the 2013 class in Happy Valley next year, is the son of former Nittany Lions fullback and 14-year NFL veteran Richie Anderson Sr.

After a weekend hosted by freshman running back Akeel Lynch, Anderson flipped his commitment from the Maryland Terrapins to the Nittany Lions.

At 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds, Anderson will likely need to grow under strength and conditioning coach Craig Fitzgerald before contributing to the program. Even so, Anderson is rated a three-star recruit across the board, with offers from Boston College, East Carolina, Maryland, Rutgers, Temple, Wake Forest and Virginia.

Anderson is the 12 commitment of the 2013 class. His commitment is not binding until he signs a national letter of intent in February.
