State Attorney General Tom Corbett has announced lawsuits against four Florida-based companies accused of illegally marketing vacation packages. He said the companies lured Pennsylvania consumers into buying timeshares they did not want and could not afford.Corbett said more than 5,700 residents bought timeshares from the Bluegreen Corporation, many paying as much as $40,000. Corbett said Bluegreen violated multiple state laws as well as other regulations.“Bluegreen is also accused of using illegal contracts and of violating the Pennsylvania law that requires contracts to be written in easy-to-understand terms and failing to properly inform consumers of their five-day right to cancel a timeshare purchase.” said Corbett.Anyone who was involved with the Bluegreen Corporation is asked to call the attorney general’s consumer protection hot line at 800-441-2555.
