Bedford County Man Accused Of Trying To Solicit Killing

Friday, March 28, 2008 – updated: 5:23 pm EDT March 28, 2008

James Anderson allegedly wrote another inmate a handwritten letter asking the person to kill a witness he expected to testify against him at a future court hearing.

The Bedford County District Attorney's office released a statement Friday saying Anderson was in jail on several drug-related offenses when the incident occurred.

"We will not tolerate his threats against the lives of Bedford County citizens. Anderson will be held accountable for his recent criminal activity and we fully expect he will be spending a significant amount of his life behind bars," District Attorney Bill Higgins said.

Anderson is being held in the Bedford County Jail on $500,000 bond. He is expected in court on Wednesday for a preliminary hearing.
