Blair County Community Deals With Mass Resignations At Ambulance Service

Thursday, October 9, 2008 – updated: 1:47 pm EDT October 9, 2008

More than a dozen Hollidaysburg Area Emergency medical technicians have handed in their resignations. But despite the exodus of EMTs, the president of the ambulance board said residents will still receive the utmost care.

Joseph Nedimyer, president of the ambulance board, said the 65-member staff is down to 50. But nevertheless, they're answering every call with a full crew.

While he wouldn't go into detail, he said a contingency plan is in effect.

The resignations came after EMTs demanded the firing of two supervisors. The EMTs also said long work hours were also an issue.

Nedimyer said one supervisor was fired and the other was suspended.
