Marine Recruits Gather In Cambria County

CONEMAUGH TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Marine recruits from across the state gathered in Cambria County Saturday.The recruits took part in several drills at the Johnstown Marine Reserve Station.Marine officials said the goal of the event was to get the recruits ready for basic training."The majority of them are looking forward to boot camp," said Staff Sgt. Joseph Schneider. "Some of them have never left the state of Pennsylvania."The recruits took part in several drills, including pull-ups and teamwork exercises.Many said they're looking forward to serving wherever they're needed.One young recruit plans to serve as a military policeman."I'll basically be a police officer in the Marine corps," said Zach Sabo, from Bedford County. "I'll be doing what my country needs me to do."Marine officials said they had a great turnout for the event.
