CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. -- A national group called Project Innocence has taken on the mission to free wrongly convicted prisoners. It's asked Cambria County investigators to pull evidence to see if 52-year-old Kevin Siehl is really guilty of murder.

DNA testing only became available in 1995, four years after Siehl was convicted of killing his estranged wife Christine. All along, he has maintained his innocence and just recently filed a petition to have his case reviewed.

Lawyers from Project Innocence want several items to be tested, including fingernail clippings, hair, clothing and a blood-stained knife.

Cambria County District Attorney Pat Kiniry said they gathered the evidence from the Johnstown Police Department and once the DNA testing is complete, a judge will then take over.

Kiniry said it could be several months before a decision is made on whether Siehl could eventually go free.

A hearing is set for June 13 to go over the evidence.
