Penguins Pride Abounds In Western Pennsylvania

The cross-state hockey rivalry between the Penguins and Flyers is heating up as the Pens get ready to play host to the Flyers at Mellon Arena Friday night.

The Penguins have lost only one game in the playoffs this year and many fans across the Alleghenies are getting behind their team by pulling out the black and gold.

Friday marked Penguins Spirit Day at Conemaugh Township Intermediate school. Black and gold filled the hallways and classrooms.

Students and teachers were having fun getting ready for Friday night's game against the Flyers by sporting their favorite Penguin gear.

The Flyers received bad news Thursday night. All-star defenseman Kimmo Timonen will likely miss the entire series due to a blood clot in his ankle.

Timonen played a crucial role in shutting down Washington's Alex Ovechkin in the first round and was expected to go head-to-head with Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin this series.
