Rumble Thru the Alleghenies

Rumble Thru the Alleghenies will take place September 19th-21st at the Jaffa Shrine and throughout Altoona. Hours of activities at the Jaffa Shrine are Friday, Noon to 8 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will feature motorcycles, vendor displays, a custom bike show, motorcycle games, a classic car show, a poker run, and children's activities. There will be several concerts throughout the weekend including performances by Randy Jackson, Felix & the Hurricanes, and Euphoria. Manhattan Short Film Festival

The State Theatre will screen films entered into the world's largest short film festival Sunday, September 21st at 4 p.m. & 7 p.m. Twelve short films will be shown and moviegoers will be given a card to vote for the film they think is the best. The twelve films will screen to over 40,000 people in over 150 cities. The votes will be tallied and the winner of the film contest will be announced September 28th in Manhattan. Admission to the film festival is $7/adult and $5 for students and senior citizens. For more information about the film festival, visit the State Theatre's website.

2008 PAWS Pet Extravaganza

The 2008 PAWS Pet Extravaganza will take place Sunday, September 21st at the Penn State Snider Ag Arena from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.  The event will feature a low cost rabies vaccination clinic ($5) and a low cost microchip clinic ($20).  The event will also feature puppy & dog demonstrations, pet contests, a silent auction, and raffle.  Select dogs and cats will be available for adoption.  Animals are permitted at the event but must have proof of a current rabies vaccine and be on a leash or in a pet carrier.  For more information and a detailed listing of events and raffle prizes, visit PAWS' website.

2008 Wedding Showcase

Altoona.com & StateCollege.com, in partnership with the Bryce Jordan Center, will host the 2008 Wedding Showcase Sunday, September 28th from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Bryce Jordan Center.

The show will feature numerous vendors, a fashion show, live seminars, etc.
