First Night State College
State College's annual First Night New Year's Eve celebration will take place Wednesday, December 31st & Thursday, January 1st throughout downtown State College and Penn State's campus. Visitors to
the event can watch ice sculptors carve large blocks of ice into
holiday displays. The event also features live music, horse drawn
carriage rides, live reindeer, a parade, ice skating, a Chinese New
Year's celebration, and children's craft workshops. At midnight, fire
sculptures will be lit and a fireworks display will take place at
Community Field. A free shuttle will run between downtown State
College and campus. All events are alcohol-free and family friendly.

Resolution 5K Run
Downtown State College
The annual Resolution 5K Run is part of the First Night State College activities and is coordinated by the Nittany Valley Running Club. The race begins on the corner of College Avenue & Allen Street and goes through campus. Race headquarters are located in St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Day of race registration for adults is $20 and includes a First Night State College button.
First Night State College Book Fair Benefit
Prior to First Night State College, Barnes & Noble in State College will host a Book Fair to benefit the annual event Saturday, December 27th from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Those interested in helping First Night should visit their website and print the Book Fair voucher. When purchasing books at Barnes & Noble on Saturday, present the voucher to the cashier. A portion of each sale will be donated to First Night State College. The event will also feature a children's story hour and children's craft projects.
