Upcoming Area Fairs
August is here and Summer will be giving way to Fall. Two local "Fairs" are coming up this month that will signify the end of Summer: Ag Progress Days (Aug. 18-20) and the Grange Fair. (Aug. 27- Sept. 3). These two events truly show off our local Agricultural roots and are great events the whole family can enjoy.
Keep an eye on our Community Calendar for more events throughout the Summer and Fall. If you have (or know of ) an event, feel Free to add it.
Don't forget these other area fairs coming up soon! Cambria County Fair (9/6-12), Huntingdon County Fair (8/9-15) and the Clearfield County Fair going on this week.(8/3-8/8)
Central PA Local Foods Week & Farm Tour
This week (Aug. 1 - 8) is Local Foods Week. A weeklong celebration showcasing local farmers, markets and restaurants that support our regional food system. Come out to a farmer's market this week for fresh products, cooking demos, kid's activities and more! Then on Saturday Aug. 8 take the Farm Tour and visit local working farms!
The sidewalks of State College will become a stage featuring Random Acts and Poetic Parodies for the August 6th First Thursday. Nittany Valley Shakespeare actors, who star in the upcoming performance
of The Tempest, will appear in a variety of downtown locations from 7–9 pm to perform monologues, short scenes, and Shakespeare improvisation. Parking is free on First Thursday after 6 pm at all municipal street meters, the parking lots on Fraser Street and on Beaver Avenue and in the McAllister parking deck. All events are open to the public and admission to First Thursday events is free.

Animals Out the WaZoo
Join the Central PA Zoological
Society for some family fun at Animals Out the WaZoo fundraising
event on Saturday, August 1 from 10am-3pm at their future property right
off of State Route 53 in Houtzdale.This entertaining festival will feature local animal groups,
educational animal programs and lots of fun for children and adults of
all ages. Don't miss this opportunity to visit with our animals
friends; both furry and scaly!
