The Centre County Grange Encampment and Fair,
better known as "The Grange Fair," starts this week, August 27-September 3, 2009. The
Grange Fair is a city within a town, as campers "move into" the Grange
Park in Centre Hall, PA to live for more than a week. From sunup to sundown, fair activities abound including tractor pulls,
draft-horse shows, carnival rides, horseshoe pitching, a
queen contest, bake-sale auction, music shows, commercial exhibits, a livestock sale and, of course, great food!
Penn State Football Eve
Penn State will kick off the 2009 campaign with "Penn State Football Eve" on Friday, September 4. The "night before" activities outside the stadium include festival food
and fun along Curtain Road, which will become a fan promenade at 6:00
p.m. Kids games, food, surprises and music will all be part of the
promenade. Admission and parking are free. The
Nittany Lions' 123rd season opener is against Akron the following day
at 12:00 p.m.
Curve and Spikes Wrap Up Seasons
Both the Curve and Spikes close out their seasons this week. The Spikes last game is Sun. Aug. 30. There will be plenty of activity incuding Pre-game catch on the field before the game, kid's run the bases after the game and Fireworks! The Curve put a capper on the season Thursday night. Following the game, fans will enjoy the final fireworks spectacular of the season. It's also Field of Dreams Night! Watch Curve players emerge from beyond the outfield wall corn stalks and walk into the stands to personally thank fans for their tremendous support!
First Thursday State College will continue its celebration of the arts
on September 3 with exhibits, performances, and activities at locations
throughout downtown State College and the Penn State campus. Admission to all First Thursday events is free and open to the public.
