THON 2010: 'Beyond Expectations'

THON is completed for another year and has raised $7,838,054 (a new record) to help kids with cancer.  StateCollege, com is proud to have been a part of THON and congratulates all the dancers and others who helped raise money and organize the event. covered THON throughout the weekend with live cameras and a great staff of writers/bloggers that went into great detail on the happenings and the "behind the scenes" aspects of THON.  You can still read their articles right here.

YouTube sensation: One of our interns captured Tucker Hass, age 9, performing "Boom Boom Pow"  for more than 15,000 at THON. Tucker was diagnosed with cancer at age 2 but has been cancer-free for nearly three years. The video, as of writing, has been viewed over 95,000 times.  Check it out here.

Something Different To Do

One of the great things about living in State College, is there is always something 'different' to do around town for you and your family.  For instance, this weekend you could check out the PSU Rube Goldberg Machine Contest, (Rube Goldberg, a complicated invention, laboriously contrived to perform a simple operation).  This is also the last weekend to go see bats in a cave at Penns Cave. Also, the Women's Big10 Indoor Track & FIeld Championships are going on Saturday and Sunday.
