Music in the Great Wide Open

Tussey Mountain Amphitheater will be the site of the Second Mile Jamfest this Sunday. Musical acts including Tyne & the Fastlyne, Ted and the HiFi's, Andrew Jackson Jazz Ensemble, and Velveeta will rule the stage while guests Ike the Spike and the Nittany Lion will entertain the crowd. Tickets are $5 and all proceeds benefit the Second Mile.  If you are looking for more outside music this weekend, there are a number of Free concerts in the area including:   Music at the Marsh , Lemont Concert Series, South Hills Concert and Music on the Lawn (more things to do in the community calendar)

Flag Day Celebration

The State College Elks Lodge and local veterans organizations will sponsor a joint Flag Day Service and U.S. Flag Retirement Ceremony on the grounds of the 28th Division Shrine in Boalsburg. The public is encouraged to bring their unserviceable American Flags for the proper disposal. Free Admission 6:00 p.m. (more info)

Nebraska Could Apply to Big Ten by Friday 

An executive at a Big 12 school relayed to The World-Herald on Tuesday that he expects Nebraska to become a member of the Big Ten as early as Friday. NU Chancellor Harvey Perlman has declined all interviews about conference realignment and expansion. He is expected to address the topic with the Board of Regents at its Friday meeting in Lincoln...read more here

Penn State Will Expand Its Transparency Report by Adam Smeltz

Penn State on Friday will file an amended and expanded version of its annual Right-to-Know report, spokesman Geoff Rushton said Tuesday. Rushton said the amended report, to be filed in Harrisburg, will disclose the salaries of two university workers who are family members of key leaders at the institution.....read more here

29th Annual Stawberry Festival

It's strawberry season!  Visit Lemont Saturday for the Annual Strawberry Festival. The festival will feature fresh strawberries, home made cakes, ice cream, strawberry smoothies, and lemonade. Cost is only $6/adult and $3/child from ages 5-12. Other activities include live music, pony rides and children's activities. (more info)
