State College is abuzz
with activity this weekend. The Arts Festival has returned and will bring over
125,000 people to downtown State College and the University Park campus.
Come celebrate the arts with the nationally recognized sidewalk sale
and exhibition, sand sculpture, great music, theatrical performances,
children activities and all sorts of food choices!

This annual arts festival features some of the very best of
Pennsylvania artisans. Food, fun and family entertainment in a

Lift For Life
Penn State Football Uplifting Athletes' Annual Lift for Life is
set for this Friday at 2:00pm in Holuba Hall. 80 members of the Nittany Lion football team are scheduled to
compete. Lift For Life is open to the public with a suggested donation of $5 per
students/child and $10 per adult. Fans will have a chance to meet and
get autographs from current and former members of the Penn State
Proceeds will benefit the Kidney Cancer Association. (more info)
Webster's Bookstore Cafe Supporters Mobilize by Adam Smeltz
Supporters of Webster's Bookstore Cafe pledged Tuesday to pursue
letter-writing and petition campaigns to advocate for the troubled State
College icon. Well more than 50 people gathered for a quickly called community meeting

State Workers Asked to Cut Power Use by Adam Smeltz
Penn State has asked employees to reduce their on-campus electricity use
every afternoon this week. As the heat wave pushes daytime temperatures into the 90s, heavy
dependence on air conditioning will put a strain on the regional power
grid, university spokesman Paul Ruskin said.....read
Looking for something to do after the Arts Festival winds down? AstroFest will run 8:30 to 11:30 pm at Davey Lab through Saturday. Astronomy
crafts, demonstrations, planetarium shows, rooftop stargazing, 3D tours of Mars,
the Milky Way, and the Universe and activities for children of all ages will be
