Grange Fair

 "A Family Tradition" -- The Centre County Grange Encampment and Fair, better known as "The Grange Fair," is coming up next week, August 26-September 2. The Grange Fair is a city within a town, as campers "move into" the Grange Park in Centre Hall to live for more than a week. From sunup to sundown, fair activities abound including tractor pulls, draft-horse shows, carnival rides, horseshoe pitching, a queen contest, bake-sale auction, music shows, commercial exhibits, a livestock sale and, of course, great food! Council President: Tell Penn State About Borough Budget Pressure by Adam Smeltz

State College ought to make the Penn State administration thoroughly aware of the borough's budget pressures, Borough Council President Ron Filippelli suggested Monday night. The borough is on track to see budget deficits for each of the next five years, according to an internal analysis.....see story here


Obama To Honor Penn State Volleyball and Fencing Teams by Adam Smeltz

The Penn State 2010 women's volleyball team and men's and women's fencing squads will be honored at the White House next month, the Obama administration announced. They are among more than 30 college-level teams invited to a Sept. 13 reception on Pennsylvania Avenue, where President Obama will recognize championship winners and other top student-athletes in the story here

Summer is winding down and the Tussey Moutnain WIngfests are wrapping up.  Next Thursday (Aug. 26) is the finals of the Wing Challenge, check out some tasty wings and listen to some great music (Velveeta).  Make plans now to stop up for this Family Friendly event! (more)
