Penn State Homecoming Weekend

This weekend is Penn State's Homecoming Weekend.  There are many events happening besides the game against Illinois Saturday at noon. Whether you are an alumnus, a student or just a PSU supporter, check out all  the Homecoming events and coverage including a live webcast of the parade.  Also, keep up with Penn State Football and all PSU Sports on the PSU Pages.

Fall Festivals

Way Fruit Farm - Way Fruit Farm hosts a Fall Festival this Saturday and next Saturday. The Festival is a great time to come out with family or friends and take a free wagon ride out to the pumpkin patch and pick just the pumpkin you want. There is also numerous other things to do at the festival. There is an apple slingshot, more than a dozen crafters, a petting zoo and other activities to enjoy.(more)

Wasson Farm - Come out to the Wasson Farm this weekend to celebrate fall with fun family activities, pumpkins, a corn maze, and 180 gallons of homemade soup! (more)


Penn State Horticulture Show

Saturday and Sunday inside the Snyder Agriculture Arena there will be a display of landscapes of different styles varying from city green spaces to the beautiful countryside. Seasonal produce will be available along with cider, mums, and both large and small plant material. All are welcome so please come enjoy the scenic tour and take a walk through the show's City Escapes and Country Estates. (more)

We all knew Penn State’s troubles in the red zone in 2010 were bad – but we didn’t know how bad. Until now. Of the 120 teams in the FBS, Penn State ranks 114th and 115th in red zone offense and defense, respectively. Think things can’t get worse? Verizon Building Talks Bound for State College Council by Adam Smeltz

State College Borough Council may begin discussing Nov. 1 the fate of the former Verizon Communications building. Karen Burgos, an RDA member, stressed that she would like to see a community center, a senior center or another community-driven function take shape at the property. "I'm very much a control freak, and I hate to see the borough lose control," Burgos said Monday. "I think they should have a finger in the pie." article

Series Record: Penn State, 14-3

ESPN2 will nationally televise the contest with Bob Wischusen and Brian Griese calling the action.

The contest is the Nittany Lions' 91st Homecoming Game and Penn State has a 65-20-5 mark all-time; 39-5 under Coach Joe Paterno. The Nittany Lions are coming off a 24-3 loss at then No. 17 Iowa. The Fighting Illini are coming off a 24-13 home loss to No. 2 Ohio State.

Illinois is tied for first in the nation in red zone offense, scoring on all 12 of its trips inside the 20 this season (seven touchdowns and five field goals). Only four other teams have scored on 100 percent of their red zone trips.

Illinois punter Anthony Santella leads the Big Ten and is second nationally in punting with a 48.3 average.
