Upcoming Area Fairs
August is here and summer will be giving way to
fall. Two local fairs are coming up this month to signify the end of
summer: Ag Progress Days (Aug. 16-18) and the Grange Fair. (Aug. 25- Sept. 1). These two events truly show off our local
agricultural roots and are great events the whole family can enjoy. Can't wait? Head over the mountain to the Huntingdon County Fair going on all next week (8/7-13)

20th Annual Old Home Days
The 20th annual Old Home Days Heritage Festival kicks off with a bang
and a boom as the Civil War comes to the event this Saturday and Sunday at Greenwood Furnace State Park (30 min southeast of State College). Discover the
heritage of this former iron furnace community through Living History
presentations, demonstrations, and musical programs while marking the
150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War. You can even
participate in many activities, including our Old Home Day tradition,
the cake walk. (more info)

Authority buses appeared this week, with at least 13 more to follow by

Minimum Age: Ferguson Township voters will decide Nov. 8 whether the minimum-age
requirement for township Board of Supervisors seats should be lowered. (read)
Domestic-Partner Registry: State College Borough Council voted 6-0 to establish a domestic-partner registry in the municipality. (read)
Air-Traffic Tower: After a seven- to eight-month delay, the University Park Airport expects
operations at its new air-traffic-control tower to begin within weeks.
Party On: Another year, another drop in Penn State's party-school ranking published by The Princeton Review.
Summer Concert - "Cast" of Beatlemania
