Happy Memorial Day

Summer is officially here! Boalsburg lays claim to being the birthplace of Memorial Day with observances dating back to 1864 and this weekend the town will be hosting a variety of activities. You will be able to see American and German WWII re-enactors and entertainment.  Boalsburg will also be hosting its annual Fire Carnival and parade, as well as the 148th Memorial Day Festival.  Find out more information and other events occurring at our Memorial Day guide here.

Allegheny Mountain Region AACA Car Show

Local Regional Antique Automobile Club of America’s annual summer season kickoff event featuring many pre-war through modern classics on display Monday (5/28) throughout the grounds of the Pennsylvania Military Museum in Boalsburg. Fee for entry and general parking fee. 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m (more info)

Giant Beer: The Northland Center Giant may not be selling beer by Memorial Day, but it has gotten one step closer. (No wine or liquor)

1.1 Million-Dollar Man: Ex-Penn State President Graham Spanier earned nearly $1.1 million in the 2011 fiscal year making him the third-highest paid president of a public university. (read)

Memorial Field: The challenge ahead for the SCASD Board of Directors is determining how to best accommodate its students and community members who use Memorial Field on a constant basis while staying within the budget. (Options)
