The DownTown Music Fest is not until next weekend, but there are a number of musical happenings around town this weekend. Enjoy the Nittany Valley Symphony at Tussey Mountain Friday evening under the setting sun with a toe-tapping program of popular and light classical selections. The Music at Penn's Woods Festival and the fantastic musical Beehive wrap up this weekend as well. Remember, there are free concerts weekly in Lemont, Bellefonte, and South Hills.(Keep up with everything going on at our Community Calendar)

Touch-A-Truck

This Saturday the SCAHS North Building "Driver Training Lot" will be filled with BIG TRUCKS; dump trucks, fire trucks and more. Bring the kids for an exciting free afternoon of climbing and exploring. It’s a great hands-on experience for the entire family. Runs from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. (more info)

Apology: Keith Masser, Vice Chairman for the BOT, had come under fire for his recent comments about a potential cover-up in the child sex abuse trial involving Jerry Sandusky. Masser apologized to the board Wednesday. (statement)

Student HousingState College Borough Council voted unanimously to make a construction site for The Retreat, a future student housing project, exempt from the Nolin Soils amendment after a public hearing. (read more)

Read It, Watch it 2012

It's back! The State Theatre is excited to announce the return of the free Read It, Watch It Summer Series, presented in cooperation with The Schlow Library Summer Reading Program. Every Wednesday at noon for eight weeks, a variety of classic and new children's films will be shown. Local charities will be featured each week and donations of canned goods and non-perishable food items will be collected every week. This week's movie is Horton Hears a Who! (more info)
