Great Insect Fair

What's the difference between a moth and a butterfly? Why do they fly by night? Find out the answers to these and all your questions about moths and other six-legged critters at Penn State's annual Great Insect Fair this Saturday at the Bryce Jordan Center. Some events include cockroach races, insect petting zoo, insect deli, bee observation hives and a Build-A-Bug competition. The Insect Deli will also be open with tasty treats like Meal Worm Roll-ups, BBQ Veggies with wax moth larvae and more. (more)

Oktoberfest

The first annual Tussey Mountain OktoberFest will bring a few of our favorite parts of Germany's #1 Fall party, Oktoberfest, to Happy Valley... mainly the music, fun, food and beer! General admission is $10 and includes a plastic cup and drink of choice. VIP package is $45 and includes a large, festive mug and drink of choice, food platter, chairlift ride and comemerative t-shirt. From 3-9pm Saturday at Tussey Mountain. (more info)

Apple Harvest Festival and Car Show

The Milesburg Museum and Historical Society Apple Harvest Festival & Car Show will be held this Saturday, September 29th on Market Street in Milesburg from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There will be a luncheon stand, homemade baked goods, apple dumplings, crafts and demonstrations. (more info)

Penn State Gameday Notes

This week's game marks the 20th meeting between the Fighting Illini and the Nittany Lions. PSU holds a 15-4 overall series advantage.

The Nittany Lions are coming off a decisive 24-13 victory over Temple for their second consecutive win under first-year Coach Bill O'Brien. The Illini fell to Louisiana Tech Saturday night in Champaign.

The Illini lost 10-7 at Beaver Stadium last season in the snow, It was the final game for longtime PSU head coach Joe Paterno.
