Black Moshannon Summer Festival

Axes and watermelon seeds will fly and logs will be rolled and cross-cut during the Lumber Day competition of the 28th annual Black Moshannon Summer Festival this weekend. This is an amateur competition for prizes and the titles of Lumber Jack and Lumber Jill of the Year in the adult, teen, and youth categories. In addition to Lumber Day activities the festival will feature a craft show, live music and food vendors on both days, canoe races, flycasting, Smokey Bear, children’s games. a mountain bike ride, a Saturday evening beach party with music and free refreshments and much more. Tussey Mountain WingFests

WingFest is back starting this Thursday (July 18) at Tussey Mountain. Each week you can vote for your favorite then the winners will face off to see who is King of the Wing at the finals Aug. 29. Gates open at 5:30 pm and fun continues til 10::00pm. Each week will also feature the best live, local music. This week: The Badlees. (Read a great article on our site about the Badlees). Visit this Living History bivouac (encampment) this weekend on the grounds of the Pennsylvania Military Museum in Boalsburg, with re-enactors portraying the combat soldier of the Vietnam era in-country in Southeast Asia. Daily programs include accompanying squads on Short Range Recon Patrols and a tactical patrol ambush demonstration. (more info)
