2014 First Night State College

First Night State College will take over downtown Dec. 31. Large ice sculptures will be located in the 100 block of South Allen Street, while smaller one block sculptures will be located in Sidney Friedman Park, on the Municipal Building Plaza, and in front of sponsoring businesses and churches. First Night will feature musical and theatrical performances in downtown churches, carriage rides, a Grand Procession, indoor and outdoor resolution sculptures, and art workshops for young people downtown. Winter Festival

Make plans to have some Fun in the Snow at Black Mo NEXT Saturday (Jan. 11)! The Black Moshannon Winter Festival is next Saturday 1-4pm. Visit the Environmental Learning Center to borrow a pair of snow shoes to try out. Build a snow sculpture on the beach, then head to the snow box derby. Other events include ice skating, broom ball, cross-country ski, ski the lake in the evening, sled riding, and roasting marshmallows. (more info)

State College Preschool Fair

Starting the preschool selection process for your child, but don’t know where to begin? Visit the State College Preschool Fair next Saturday, January 11, at the State College High School South Cafeteria from 10:00am-noon.. This event is FREE and will provide parents and caregivers an opportunity to visit with more than 20 preschool directors and representatives from a variety of schools throughout the State College area.
