Wild About Animals

The annual "Wild About Animals" event is this Saturday, March 29th. 10 am - 3 pm at the Snider Ag Arena. It features a variety of animal-related organizations such as veterinarians, rescue groups, a petting zoo, environmental groups, etc. with an emphasis on education and outreach. Among the events scheduled are a silent auction, a children's section, face painting, carnival games, educational programs, pony rides and lots of interesting animals such as dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, hawks, chickens, livestock and much more! Admission is only $7; Kids 5 and under get in free! Proceeds go towards the care of orphaned and injured wild animals at Centre Wildlife Care. (more info)

Minerals Junior Education Day

Minerals Junior Education Day is fun and rewarding for students in grades 1-8 and their parents. They will learn about minerals, crystals, gems, and fossils. There are various starting time slots available NEXT Saturday (4/5) at the Central Pennsylvania Institute of Science and Technology. Stations will include: gold panning, fossils, gemstone identification and more. PLEASE REGISTER in advance by April 2. (more details)

11th Annual New Faces of an Ancient People Indian Powwow

Make plans now to attend the annual Powow next weekend (4/5-6) at the Mount Nittany Middle School.The powwow is free and open to the public and families are encouraged to attend. The powwow runs from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The Grand Entry of Dancers begins at noon and is held again at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and only at noon on Sunday. The Powwow will end after this year. (more info)
