Ag Progress Days

Ag Progress Days, Pennsylvania's largest outdoor agricultural exposition, will return for its annual three-day run early next week, Aug. 12-14. Sponsored by Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences, the event is held at the Russell E. Larson Agricultural Research Center at Rock Springs, nine miles southwest of State College on Pa. Route 45. Free admission and parking. With over 400 exhibitors showcasing innovations in agricultural equipment and related industries, they have something for everyone. (more info)

Local Foods Week winds down with the farm tour this Saturday. You'll see diversified fruit and vegetable farms, you'll get up close to all kinds of animals - horses, pigs, cows, chickens, ducks, geese, guineas, donkeys, and more! See up close what it takes to make cheese or process chickens to be ready for your table. Most importantly, bring along a cooler so you can take home ingredients for a fresh-from-the-farm meal. WingFest continues through this month at Tussey Mountain. Each week you can vote for your favorite then the winners will face off to see who is King of the Wing at the finals Aug. 28.
