Obituary of Donald L 'Don' Cramer, 72


Donald L. Cramer, 72, of Port Matilda, passed away at his home on Sunday, July 15, 2018 surrounded by his family and friends. Born on March 13, 1946, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Harold and Dorothy Spicer Cramer. On July 6, 1970 he married Kathryn E. Decker. They were married for 25 years before she passed away on December 21, 1995. On August 6, 2010, he married Mary Ann Loudenslager, who survives at home.

Don was a 1965 graduate from Bellefonte Area High School. He was of the Baptist faith.

Don enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in 1965. He earned the rank of Corporal before his honorable discharge in 1967. His specialty title was Motor Vehicle Operator. While in the service, he received training at the Motor Transport Schools Company, Motor Vehicle Operations Course, Demolitions School, Land Mines Warfare School, Land Mine Warfare Course, and Camouflage & Field Fortification School, all at Camp Lejeune, NC. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Marksman Badge M-14 for his service.

After returning home from the military, Don worked for a brief time at Cerro Metal in the Tool & Die department. He left there and started his own business, Don Cramer Janitorial Service. He owned and operated his business for over 30 years, retiring in 2009. Don also owned several rental buildings in Bellefonte, Pleasant Gap, and Florida.

Don enjoyed hunting, dancing, cooking and traveling. He looked forward to spending the winter months in Florida. He was proud of his rental properties and enjoyed fixing them up and making each property beautiful.

Don was a member of the Bellefonte Moose Lodge 206, Bellefonte Elks Lodge 1094, Bellefonte Undines, Pleasant Gap American Legion Post 87, and the AMVETS in North Port FL.

Don is survived by his wife, son; Donald E. Cramer and his wife, Chaylea, of Plattsmouth, NE, daughter; Sherri L. O’Donald and her husband, Bob, of Altoona, four step sons; Landon K. Quay of Lewistown, Brian P. Quay and his wife, Kari, of State College, Allan K. Quay and his wife, Rebecca, of Runville, and Larry R. Quay of Lewistown, two grandchildren; Hunter and Justin Cramer, and 10 step grandchildren.

Don is also survived by two brothers and two sisters.

Along with his parents and first wife, Don was preceded in death by two brothers.

Visitation will be on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 10am until 12 noon at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 228 S. Pennsylvania Ave, Centre Hall. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home with Pastor Greg Shipe officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors at Zion Cemetery.
