Obituary of Dorothy Crater, 89


Dorothy Louise (Bennett) Crater, 89, died peacefully at Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte on Friday, September 15, 2017. Dorothy was born in Boggs Township on February 29, 1928 the fourth of nine children born to the late Paul Linzinor and Edna Mae (Burd) Bennett. On November 10, 1945 in Halton, PA, Dorothy married her devoted husband, Norman E. Crater, who precedes her in death. Together they lived in Bellefonte, PA for more than forty years prior to moving to State College in 1985.

Dorothy worked in the proof department at Central Counties (Mellon) Bank and was an active member of her church, the State College Assembly of God, for many years. In addition to spending time with her grand- and great-grandchildren, Dorothy loved camping, visiting family, playing bingo and cards with her friends, and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Lady Lions basketball.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter Deanna (Robert) Yarnell of State College, Sandy Fogleman (Tom Crater) of Bellefonte; her grandchildren Theresa Crater (Alan Antiporda) of Bakersfield, CA, Lori (Mike) Ebert-Tyworth of State College, Ryan (Megan) Yarnell of Lebanon, PA, Coura Fogleman of Bellefonte, and Jonni Fogleman of Bellefonte; her great-grandchildren Andrew Ebert, Katie Tyworth, and David Yarnell; and her siblings Arlene (Allen) McCaslin of Runville, Thelma Womer of Milesburg, and Jim (Nancy) Bennett of Port Matilda.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her son Thomas E. Crater and his wife Martha A. (Brakora) Crater, and her siblings Ann(a) McMillen, Stella Owens, Bud (Paul Jr.) Bennett, Chick (Charles) Bennett, and E. Jean Clouser.

A public viewing will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017 from 6-8pm at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. at 206 N. Spring Street Bellefonte. An additional viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 10-11am at the funeral home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11am with Pastor Zac McDonald officiating. Burial will follow at Centre County Memorial Park.
