Obituary of Edith E. Longo, 85


Edith E. Longo, 85, of Howard, passed away at Mount Nittany Medical Center on Tuesday, April 3, 2018. Born on October 17, 1932, in Beech Creek, she was the daughter of the late James H. and Mina K. Martin Falls, Sr.

Edith attended the Lock Have High School. She was employed at Corning Glass Works in State College as an Accounting Clerk until her retirement in 1988 after 27 years of service. She was of the Protestant faith.

Edith enjoyed camping and family time. She was an excellent cook and baker. She loved to prepare family meals for all the holidays, but Christmas was her favorite.

Edith is survived by her four children; Carol J. Waltz of Bellefonte, Wanda E. Boone and her husband, David, of Howard, William E. Van Gorder, and his wife, Diane, of Mill Hall, and Linda A. Van Gorder of Howard, seven grandchildren; Jay Longo with whom she resided, Danielle, Derrick, Andrew, Lee, Michael, and Aletha, and 11 great grandchildren.

Also surviving Edith are her two brothers; James H. Falls, Jr of Clearfield, and Austin Falls and his wife, Hazel, of Avis, and two sisters; Alice Ferguson and her companion, Joe, of Beech Creek and Blanche Dodds of Galveston, TX.

Along with her parents, Edith was preceded in death her grandson, B.J. Perryman, brother, Harvey Falls and two sisters; Elizabeth Young and Ruth Glossner.

Visitation will be on Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 10:30am until 11:30am at the Howard Christian Church, 367 Walnut St, Howard. Memorial service will follow at the church with Rev. Don Crane officiating. Burial will be at Schenck’s Cemetery, Howard Twp.
