Obituary of Grant Bernard Torsell, Sr., 82


Grant was a 1944 graduate of the Bellefonte Area High School and attended Pennsylvania State University and a trade school.

He was the owner of Grant Torsell Buick in State College, and was a past president of the Nittany Country Club. He was an avid golfer and sportsman.

Grant was a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks Lodge #1094 and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1600 of Bellefonte.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte with Father Valentine J. Bradley officiating.

Burial will follow at Centre County Memorial Park.


There will be a public visitation held on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Christian Wake service held at 7:00 p.m. at Wetzler Funeral Service in Bellefonte.

Daughters - Sharon Torsell Truchan and her husband Stephen, of Mars, PA, Carol Torsell Opalisky and her husband Michael, of Mechanicsburg.

Son - Grant Torsell Jr. and his wife Nancy of State College.

Step-Sons - Kevin Beaver and wife, Kim, of New Paris and Jarret Beaver and wife, Michele, of Alum Bank.

Step-Daughter - Christine Hattler and husband, Craig, of Altoona.

Sisters - Angeline DePolis of Bellefonte and Ethel Knapp and husband Jay, of Bellefonte.
