Obituary of Jean Rebecca Klaus , 89
Jean Rebecca Klaus, 89, of State College, died Friday, December 9, 2011 at The Atrium at the Village at Penn State.
Born May 17, 1922, in State College, she was a daughter of the late Herbert T. and Sara E. Heckman Hartswick. She married E. Erwin Klaus on September 22, 1945 who preceded her in death on July 12, 1994.
She is survived by two children, Diane K. Horton and her husband, Lee, of Memphis, TN, Dennis R. Klaus and his wife, Cindy, of Salt Lake City, UT; one brother, Max Hartswick and his wife, Barbara, of Houserville; five grandchildren, Jessica Horton, Allison Horton, Michael Slifka, Jennifer Cushman, Rob Brugh and eight great grandchildren.
Jean was a 1939 graduate of State College High School.
She was a member of the Faith United Church of Christ for over fifty years. She had an active membership in the Order of the Eastern Star; State College Chapter#388.She was an avid Penn State University fan and lifetime member of the PSU Alumni Club.
Services will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. An Order of the Eastern Star Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friends will be received from 1-2 p.m. with a Memorial Service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Private burial will follow at the Centre County Memorial Park.
Memorial Services will be officiated by Dr. Rev. Lois Martin of Faith United Church of Christ, State College.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be addressed to The Pennsylvania State University, 1 Old Main, University Park, PA, 16801 to be allocated to the E. Erwin and Jean H. Klaus Graduate Fellowship in Chemical Engineering in the College of Engineering.
