Obituary of John A Drapcho, 83
John A.”Hardy” Drapcho, Jr, 83, formerly of Clarence, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 18, 2010 in Berea, Ohio.
Born on February 18, 1927, in Clarence, PA, he was the oldest son of the late John and Anna (Hudak) Drapcho, Sr. of Clarence, Pa.
Hardy served in the United States Army Air Corps and was stationed in Europe during WWII.
On September 5, 1953, he married Martha A Soltis. In 1957, Hardy and Martha moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where he worked for Lamson & Sessions and later St. Mary’s Catholic School.
Hardy was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. His favorite teams were the Steelers, Pirates, and Cleveland Indians. Family was most important to him.
He is survived by his wife, at home, his two sons, Kevin and his wife Pati, of Olmsted Twp, OH, and John and his wife Ginny, of Strongsville, OH. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Rob and his wife Megan of Olmsted Falls, OH and Michael of Strongsville, OH, four brothers, George Drapcho of Brook Park, OH, Francis Drapcho of Bellefonte, PA, Al Drapcho of Coudersport, PA, and Michey Drapcho of Clarence, PA.
Hardy was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Marcy Pachipka, and one brother, Ed Drapcho.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, December 22, 2010, from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm with the rosary being said at 7:45pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W Sycamore St., Snow Shoe. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, December 23, 2010, at 11:00am at the Queen of Archangels Roman Catholic Church in Clarence with the Rev. Lubomir J. Strecok officiating. Burial with full military honors will immediately follow in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Clarence.
